BC-P
BC-P
Introduction
The term scale describes a continuous, adherent layer of foreign material formed on the water side of a surface through which heat is exchaged. By adding certain chemicals the growth of scales can be inhibited and the insoluble particles can be dispersed in the recirculating water and removed by blowdown. Should the particles come out of suspension, however, they can accmulate as sludges in quiet sections of a boiler. Deposit is a rather general term applied to more-or-less loose accumulations often found inless turbulent section of boilers and water-treating systems. Scales are objecttionable because of their insulating effect. In a boiler tube, for instance. they cause overheating and eventual failure of the metal. Deposits often cause piugging in critical areas such as waterwalls, waterwall headers in blowdown lines. and in gauge glasses. The most effctive method for preventing scaling is to eliminate scale-forming elements from the feed water or to transform them by some means in to an innocuous form. BC-P provides unsurpassed control of boiler sludge.
BC-P makes it possible to easily transport iron with calcium and phosphate containing sludge for removal during blowdown. BC-P is a simple. inexpensive and effective boiler water treatment compound suitable for steam boiler operating at pressure up to 600 Lbs/in² (42.3 Kgs./cm²)
Purpose
BC-P when added to boiler feed water in controlled amount, will react with the scale forming salts to from precipitate or sludge in stead of scale. The special polymeric sludge conditioner fluidizes the sludge to disperse in soluble material and prevent the accumulation of sludge on internal surfaces where heat is transfered. The heating surfaces are kept free of adherent deposits and accumulated sludge is easily removed by blowdown. BC-P is effective in plant using raw. chemically softened or ion exchange pretreated make up water.

Advantages
- Form nonadherent sludge.
- Precipitate metal oxides to make them nonadherent
- Easily dissolve into feed water.
- Heat stable sludge conditioner will not "carbonize"
- Easy to test and control by using standard methods.
- Optimal economic dosage readily maintained.
- Help key surfaces clean for maximum heat transfer and corrosion resistance through effective boiler sludge control.
- Reduced downtime, lower fuel and maintenance costs.
- Can be used over a broad range of temperature, pressure and pH.
Specification
Appearance ..... White free flowing granules.
Solubility ......... Up to 25% by weight in water.
pH of 1% solution ..... 6.8
Dosage
Sufficient BC-P should be used to maintain 20-30 ppm. phosphate in the boiler water. The amount to be used depends on the hardness of boiler feed water, cycles of concentration and internal condition of the boiler.
Feeding
Dissolve BC-P in hot (up to 125 °F) or cold soft water, and feed intermittently to boiler feed water line or with proper flushing to boiler drum. A 12% feed solution strength is preferred. Mechanical agitation is recommended.

Keep dry to prevent caking. It can be kept for long period of time without losing effectiveness, if properly stored.
Packaging
BC-P is available in steel drums with polyethylene inner bags containing 50 Kgs. and 250 Kgs. net weight.
