Introduction
This very important procedure is applied chiefly to the remove of scale and other unwanted deposits from boilers, evaporator and chemical reaction vessels. Hydrochloric acid is widely used, frequently with an important assist form hydrofluoric acid or fluorides. This acid are another cause of corrosion in chemical reaction vessel. Inhibited acids are used extensively in plant cleaning, both pre-commission and periodic service cleaning. Acid solutions are used to remove hard scale and deposits formed in boilers, evaporators and coolers. Metal corrosion will also occur through an electrochemical reaction. Decreasing the pH of the acid solution and increasing the temperature will speed up the corrosion rate. The purpose of the inhibitor is to prevent any attack of acid on metal surface.

WELLIC is a highly efficient inhibitor for the protection of metal materials during the chemical cleaning using hydrochloric acid or mixture of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids at temoerature from 25-110 °C. WELLIC prevents attack by formation of a barrier on the surface of the metal. In addition, the corrosion rate of a metal in acidic solution is governed by the rate of reduction of hydrogen ions to hydrogen gas at cathodic sites. WELLIC inhibit the attack of hyfrogen ions on steel by rasing the hydrogen overvoltage on cathodic surface.

Advantages
- Anti-emulsifying properties which avoid formation of emulsion between the used acid solution and present oil.
- High wetting power facilitating the acid diffusion through the scale until the acid is used up
- Acid attached on metals can be prevented completely by small amount of this chemical, and the cleaning action of the acid is not affected.
- Readily soluble in acid, non-staining and do not precipitate on standing, very easy to use.
Applications
WELLIC has been developed as a acid inhibitor in hydrochloric acid cleaning over a wide range of temperature, from 25 °C up to 110 °C. It is particularly recommended in the following applications :-

- Acid pickling to remove oxide scale formed during metal working
- Plant cleaning to remove hard scale and deposits from boilers, evaporators and coolers.
- oil well acidizing to remove scale which interfere with the passage of oil in the lines and tubing.
Dosage
WELLIC can be added to the concentrated hydrochloric acid. This inhibited acid can be stored for several months.
Recommended dosage is 0.15 to 0.25% for 5% to 15% acid solution.
Packaging
In plastic drum of 50 Kgs. or in steel drum of 100 Kgs.
Handling and Storage
Care should be taken in their uses, gloves and goggles should be worn as they are skin and eye irritants. In case of contamination flush thoroughly with water and wash with soap and water. Major skin irritation, ingestion or contamination of eyes, call a physician.
