F.A.S Organic Liquid Antiscale

F.A.S Organic Liquid Antiscale

Introduction

Deposition of in organic scale in evaporators has been a costly problem in the sugar industry. Scale not only restricts production but causes inefficiency and failure of production equipment. There are many chemicals that will prevent deposition. However most will not remain in the formation long enough to make them economically feasible as inhibitor. In selecting the best scale inhibitor. laboratory evaluation is necessary. The term scale decribes a continuous adherent layer of foreign material formed on the cane juice side of surface through which heat exchanged. By adding F.A.S. certain chemical is the growth of scales can be inhibited and the insoluble particles can be dispersed in the cane juice.
Description
F.A.S. is an organic liquid specially formulated for Inhibiting scale and sludge  formation in the first and second effect evaporators in sugar industry. It is the effective inhibitor for calcium salt scale (carbonate, phosphate, oxalate, sulphate, silicate) as well as metallic oxide scale (magnesium, iron) F.A.S. functions at all temperature and pressure is soluble at all proportion to water nonfoaming and will not be hydrolyzed.
Function of F.A.S.
  • Exhibit the threshold effect. This occurs when F.A.S. coats the micro-crystalline nuclei and inhibits their growth preventing the formation of large particles and main-taining the particles in solution at concentration above the normal precipitation level.
  • Inhibit the development of micro-scopic nuclei to the critical size and then redisperse freeing the F.A.S. to interact with other embryonic nuclei.
  • Distort pattern of crystal growth.
  • Prevent the adherence on to metal surface.
  • Increase dispersing efficiency of solid and insoluble particles.
USE of F.A.S.
♦ Injection
F.A.S. is applicable to pressure and vacuum condition. In case of evaporators operated at atmospheric or elevated pressure, injection must be done using a metering pump to dose the F.A.S. diluted solution from the tank into evaporators. The metering pump must be present to give the required flow rate. For the evaporators under vacuum. F.A.S. diluted solution will be sucked into the feed line at an appropriate rate. using vacuum. The flow rate is adjusted by control valves.
Dosage
  • Used 3 ppm based on clarified juice
  • Feed 1.5 - 2.0 ppm to the first effect evaporators.
  • Feed 1.0 - 1.5 ppm to the second effect evaporators.
Advantages
  • Prolong the operation period before cleaning.
  • Improve heat transfer.
  • Minimize scale formation, formed scale is soft and easily removed.
  • Economical treatment cost.
  • Function at all temperature, pressure and longer limited on preventing scale deposition.
Handling
F.A.S. is non toxic to skin and eye. However avoid contact with eye is recommended and in case of contact, flish eye thoroughly with water.
Packaging
F.A.S. is packed in lined steel drum of 250 Kgs. net.
