WELL FLOC

WELL FLOC

Introduction
In order to obtain the largest possible through put from a thickener of given size and type. the rate of sedimentation should be as high as possible. In most case the rate is artificially increased by the addition of small quantities of either acoagulant or a flocculant.
Description
WELL FLOC is a combination of high molecular weight polyacrylamide, specially formulated for improving flocculation of suspended solids in sugar cane juice clarification. The mechanism of flocculation by WELL FLOC is considered to involve the two steps of surface charge neutralization and bridging. When WELL FLOC are added in sugar cane juice. the large stable floc is formed very quickly.
Physical Characteristics
Appearance ..... White free flowing granules
Tonicity ..... Anionic
Solubility ..... Completely in water
Molecular weight ..... Several millions
Advantages
  1. Proper degree of hydrolysis ensures rapid sedimentation of larger and more compact floes with brilliant supernatant juice.
  2. Increase the capacities of clarifier, and filter station.
  3. Shorten retention time in the clarifier, therefore improve in colour reduction and increase purity rise in the clarified juice by reducing sucrose loss by inversion in the clarifier.
  4. A thicker cake will be obtained and dewatering of the mud be improved resulting in lower filter cake pol.
  5. Economocal treatment cost.
Application Methods
  1. Prepare stock solution of 0.2-0.5% concentration by adding the powder slowly (or by using vibrator or eductor feeding) into a mixing tank that filled with adequate water. For complete dispersion and dissolution. allow 2 hours continuous agitation at 60-100 rpm after completion of the powder addition.
  2. Prepare final feeding solution of 0.02-0.05% concentration by dilution the stock solution to ten times in a holding tank.
  3. Feeding point should be between the flash tank and the clarifier. Feed the solution by means of proportioning pump or by gravity feeding into a juice line of local turbulence about 2 to 5 metres before the clarifier. to allow for uniform miximg of the flocculant and juice. Once flocculation has occurred. excessive turbulence should be avoided to miantain good floc size.
Dosage
Best dosage should be adjusted to give optimum flocculation in the clarifier and to give optimum mud dewatering and filter operation. Normal dosage ranges from 0.5 to 2 ppm based on mixed juice weight.
Storage and Handling
WELL FLOC is ectremely hygroscopic, keep packages sealed against moisture and high humidity. Avoid excessive and prolong contact with the skin. Contaminated skin or clothing should be washed off thoroughly with water.
Packaging
WELL FLOC is packed in steel drum with a polyethylene inner bag containing 100 Kgs. net.
